I’m Luisa (she/her), an artist and creative problem solver currently living in Mni Sóta Makoce, or Minnesota, on the occupied homelands of the Dakota people.
As you can see throughout this portfolio, art takes many forms throughout my practice: from more practical applications in graphic design to more abstract explorations in printmaking. Fundamentally though, I see art as a tool of world-building and intuitive connection.
I want my artwork to build a more just, equitable, and loving world for all, grounded in a process of making that emerges through gently following my intuition and the simmering energies around me. In a world that values linearity and functionality so highly, art helps me drop into a space of opposite values — in which receptivity, cyclicality, and stillness lead to the deepest insights. I access the process of art-making with the hope that the work I create, and the place I enter to create it, can transform our reality for the better.
I’m a recent college grad with a BA in Philosophy, where I focused on decolonial theory, aesthetics, and philosophy of race and gender. I also minored in the Digital Arts and Humanities program, where I learned to use digital tools to support my work.
